Amsterdam, July 22 (SANA) – The Dutch government announced on Tuesday that it plans to ban imports of products originating from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, effective September 22.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted the Dutch Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that “through the proposed measures, the Netherlands is reinforcing its commitment to fulfilling its international legal obligation not to contribute to the continuation of this unlawful situation.”

Dutch Foreign Ministry  noted that the ban would cover “the import, purchase and sale of products originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories.”

The Netherlands will thereby join other European Union countries, including Ireland, Belgium and Spain, that have imposed restrictions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
