Seoul, July 5 (SANA) South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung pledged to deepen his country’s alliance with the United States and expand bilateral cooperation across a range of strategic sectors in a message marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee said he would work with U.S. President Donald Trump to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, building on their shared values and mutual trust.
Lee said cooperation between Seoul and Washington has expanded beyond security to include the economy, advanced technology, energy, shipbuilding, nuclear power and artificial intelligence.
He also paid tribute to U.S. service members who fought in the Korean War, saying South Korea would continue to honor their sacrifices while reinforcing the alliance between the two countries.
The United States celebrates Independence Day on July 4, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the 13 American colonies declared independence from Great Britain.
