Palestinian killed by Israeli drone strike in southern Gaza

Occupied Jerusalem, May 22 (SANA) One Palestinian was killed on Friday in an Israeli drone strike northwest of Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip, according to medical sources st the Nassar hospital.

The Palestinian News Agency WAFA, citing medical sources, reported that the body of a 42-year-old shepherd arrived at Nasser Hospital after he was targeted by an Israeli drone in the al-Shakoush area near the“yellow line” northwest of Rafah.

The “yellow line” refers to an area to which Israeli forces withdrew under a ceasefire agreement in October 2025. The zone covers around 58 percent of the Gaza Strip and is considered off-limits to Palestinians, with those approaching it at risk of being targeted.

Meanwhile, Israeli artillery continued shelling eastern Khan Younis and northern Rafah, while heavy gunfire from Israeli vehicles was reported in eastern and southern Khan Younis.
Israeli forces also carried out two demolition operations northeast of Khan Younis during the night, according to local sources.

On Thursday, four Palestinians were killed and others wounded in separate Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip.
Since the beginning of the Israeli military offensive on October 7, 2023, at least 72,775 Palestinians have been killed and 172,750 others wounded, according to local health authorities.
