Doha, June 8 (SANA) Qatar reaffirmed its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East and advancing a comprehensive agreement to promote regional security and stability, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
The statement followed a phone call between Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to the ministry, the two sides discussed ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, as well as recent developments in Lebanon.
The call came amid renewed regional tensions after Israeli strikes targeted several Iranian cities early Monday, hours after Iran launched missile attacks against Israel.
Qatar has been actively engaged in regional diplomatic efforts and has repeatedly called for dialogue and de-escalation to prevent a broader conflict.
U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iran to halt missile attacks and return to negotiations, amid international efforts to contain the latest escalation.
