Riyadh, May 28 (SANA) Former Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi died on Thursday in the Saudi capital Riyadh following a sudden health crisis, Yemeni presidential sources said.
Agence France-Presse quoted a source in Yemen’s presidency as saying Hadi died in his eighties after suffering a medical emergency.
Hadi served as Yemen’s president from 2012 until 2022 and spent much of the past decade in Saudi Arabia after the kingdom launched a military coalition campaign in 2015 in support of the Yemeni government against the Iran-backed Houthi movement.
Hadi formally transferred presidential powers to a leadership council in 2022 amid efforts to revive peace negotiations aimed at ending Yemen’s prolonged conflict.
