Beijing, May 22 (SANA) The China Coast Guard (CCG) said it has intercepted 11.5 tonnes of narcotics and cracked down on seven major maritime drug trafficking cases since the start of 2025, according to information presented at a regional maritime law enforcement meeting.

The agency said all the cases were linked to overseas drug sources, underscoring ongoing cross-border challenges in maritime security enforcement.

According to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency, the figures were disclosed during the working-level meeting of the 22nd Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting held in Quanzhou, Fujian Province.

The China Coast Guard also reported the detection of more than 150 cases of illegal immigration over the same period.

The meeting brought together maritime law enforcement representatives from 16 countries and regions, along with two international organizations, to discuss regional maritime security challenges.

Delegates exchanged views on combating cross-border maritime crime, improving coordination on law enforcement operations, and strengthening protection of the marine environment.

Participants agreed on the importance of expanding multilateral cooperation in maritime law enforcement to support sustainable marine development and enhance regional security and stability.
