Cairo, April 19 (SANA) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed the latest developments in Lebanon with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in a phone call on Saturday, including a recently declared ceasefire and efforts to extend state authority across the country.
In a statement, the Egyptian presidency said the talks also addressed developments in direct Lebanese-Israeli negotiations under U.S. mediation and efforts by the Lebanese government to assert control over all its territory and keep the country away from regional tensions.
El-Sisi condemned any attack on Lebanon’s security or sovereignty and praised ongoing efforts to restore stability and maintain the ceasefire.
For his part, Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to pursuing a just and lasting settlement that safeguards the country’s sovereignty and the security of its people.
A 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon came into effect on Thursday, marking a temporary halt to hostilities and receiving broad regional and international support.
