EU warns Middle East–Iran escalation could destabilize region, Europe

Brussels, Mar. 2 (SANA) The European Union on Sunday warned that the escalating military confrontation between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other risks destabilizing the Middle East and Europe.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said after an emergency video meeting that events in Iran “must not trigger a wider escalation with unpredictable consequences, including economic fallout.” She added that Iran’s attacks on several Middle Eastern states “cannot be justified.”

U.S. and Israeli forces have continued precision strikes on Iranian targets for a second day, while Iran has launched missiles and drones at Israel and struck five Gulf states and Jordan, causing civilian casualties and damage.
