Damascus, May 22 (SANA) Al-Wahda will look to strengthen their hold on first place when they host Homs al-Fidaa on Friday in the final round of the first leg of the Syrian Men’s Basketball League Final 6.
The game, set to take place at al-Fayhaa Hall in Damascus, pits the league leaders against their closest challengers in a contest carrying major implications for the standings.
Al-Wahda enter the matchup seeking to maintain their momentum and extend their lead at the top of the table, backed by a stable technical setup and a roster featuring experienced players capable of handling high-pressure encounters.
Homs al-Fidaa, meanwhile, are aiming to bounce back after consecutive defeats to al-Nawaeir and Ahli Aleppo.
The side will rely on the experience of new professional signing Marcello Coria, along with the determination of its players to quickly return to winning form and revive their title challenge.
Although al-Wahda appear favorites on paper, Homs al-Fidaa have previously shown an ability to overturn expectations.
During the regular season, al-Wahda claimed a commanding 86-66 victory in the first meeting between the two sides, only for Homs al-Fidaa to respond emphatically in the return game with a dominant 104-70 win.
The contrasting results leave the outcome wide open ahead of what is expected to be one of the most competitive and well-attended fixtures of the Final 6 stage.
