New Delhi, May 14 (SANA) India announced Thursday that one of its ships was attacked off the coast of Oman, confirming all crew members are safe but providing no further details.
Reuters, citing the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), reported that “unauthorized individuals” boarded a vessel anchored off Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates before directing it toward Iranian territorial waters.
UKMTO noted that no additional details on the incident were available at the time.
Earlier Thursday, UKMTO had reported the seizure of a ship off the UAE coast by unknown individuals, who took it toward Iranian waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have escalated since the US-Israeli-Iranian conflict erupted on February 28, with Iran closing the strait and stranding hundreds of vessels, severely disrupting maritime traffic.
