London, April 23 (SANA) UK Defense Secretary John Healey and French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin expressed confidence that meaningful progress can be achieved in addressing the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, which has seen rising tensions in recent weeks.
According to Reuters, the UK Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Thursday that turning diplomatic momentum into concrete action requires careful planning, frank discussions, and firm commitments from allied and partner nations.
“We are grateful to countries that have already shown willingness to contribute, and we are confident that real progress can be made,” the statement added, referring to ongoing international efforts on the issue.
On Wednesday, an international military conference began in London, bringing together military officials from more than 30 countries to discuss technical and operational plans aimed at securing maritime navigation and reopening the strait.
These developments come amid continued tensions in the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most strategic maritime routes—and as Western efforts intensify to ensure freedom of navigation in vital waterways, amid concerns over broader impacts on the global economy.
