GULF CAPITALS, March 1 (SANA) Iranian drone and missile strikes targeted several Gulf States on Sunday, causing fatalities, injuries and material damage in a sharp escalation following a joint U.S.-Israeli operation on Iranian territory.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said one person was killed and 11 others injured after drones struck Abu Dhabi and Zayed International Airports. Additional drones were intercepted over other areas, while two more people were wounded in Dubai when debris from intercepted drones fell into residential yards.
Officials said loud sounds heard across parts of the emirate were caused by air defense operations.
In Bahrain, officials confirmed that drones targeted Bahrain International Airport, causing limited material damage but no casualties. The passenger terminal was evacuated as a precaution and emergency plans were activated to ensure traveler safety and continued air traffic operations.
Qatar’s Interior Ministry said civil defense teams extinguished a minor fire in an industrial area after debris from an intercepted missile fell there, adding that no injuries were reported.
Iran earlier announced it had launched ballistic missile and drone strikes against Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait and Jordan, drawing regional and international condemnation amid concerns of further escalation.
