U.S. deploys thousands of troops to enforce blockade on Iran

Washington, April 14 (SANA) The U.S. Central Command said Tuesday that more than 10,000 American service members, ten warships,, and dozens of aircraft are now enforcing a blockade on Iranian ports.

CENTCOM said on X that no ship managed to break through the U.S. cordon in the first 24 hours. Six commercial vessels turned back to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman after receiving U.S. instructions.

The command said the blockade applies to all ships trying to enter or leave Iranian ports in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It stressed that freedom of navigation remains guaranteed for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian destinations.

President Donald Trump announced the blockade on Monday after negotiations with Iran failed over the weekend.
