Beirut, April 24 (SANA) The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Friday the death of an Indonesian peacekeeper from wounds he sustained last month following an explosion inside a UN base in southern Lebanon.
According to a UNIFIL statement cited by AFP, Corporal Rico Pramudia died after suffering critical injuries in an explosion caused by a projectile at the force’s base in Adshit al-Qusayr on March 29.
UNIFIL renewed its warning that deliberate attacks against peacekeepers constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and could amount to war crimes.
Last month, three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL were killed in Lebanon, one of them by an Israeli tank shell, while the other two died in an improvised explosive device blast.
