Kuwait City, April 10 (SANA) — Kuwait on Friday strongly condemned drone attacks launched by Iran and its regional affiliates targeting vital facilities in Kuwait, as wll as energy facilities on Saudi Arabia on Thursday, describing them as a blatant violation of the countries’ sovereignty, airspace, the international law, and the United Nations Charter.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the continued attacks undermine recent regional and international efforts that led to the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, warning that such actions pose a serious challenge to international stability.
The ministry called on the international community to compel Iran and its affiliates to immediately and unconditionally halt all hostile acts against Kuwait and other countries in the region, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
Kuwait reaffirmed its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, stressing it would take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national stability.
Earlier on Thursday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said its air defenses had intercepted hostile drones that violated the country’s airspace and targeted several key facilities.
In a separate statement, Kuwait also condemned Iranian attacks on energy facilities in Saudi Arabia overnight, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant breach of international law amid ongoing efforts to ease regional tensions.
A Saudi energy official said the attacks caused operational disruptions that reduced the Kingdom’s oil production capacity by 600,000 barrels per day following strikes on the Manifa and Khurais facilities.
