Ankara, April 8 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a post on X, Erdoğan said: “We are pleased with the ceasefire announced last night in the war that has turned our region into a scene of destruction since February 28. We hope it will be fully implemented on the ground without leaving room for provocations or acts of sabotage.”

Erdoğan praised the efforts of all parties involved in reaching the ceasefire, particularly Pakistan, and expressed hope that a region long burdened by wars, conflicts, tensions and oppression will soon enjoy peace, calm and stability.

He added that Türkiye will continue to raise the voice of peace in its region and the world.

Earlier on Wednesday, the U.S. president announced that a two-week ceasefire agreement had been reached with Iran following 39 days of fighting.
