Paris , May 23 (SANA) French President Emmanuel Macron discussed Saturday with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump and the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan developments related to the ongoing conflict involving the U.S., Israel and Iran, as well as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Agence France-Presse quoted a diplomatic source as saying France was pushing for a diplomatic track and a negotiated solution, while giving top priority to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without transit fees and consolidating a ceasefire.
The source added that France supported resuming negotiations on other issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missiles and regional matters.
Earlier Saturday, Trump said U.S. and Iranian negotiators were moving closer to reaching an agreement aimed at ending the conflict between the two sides.
