Beirut, April 7 (SANA) Five people were killed and several others wounded in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple towns in southern Lebanon from Monday evening into early Tuesday morning, according to Lebanese official media.

Lebanon’s National News Agency said Israeli warplanes struck a house in Maarakeh in the Tyre district, killing two people and injuring several others. The strike also caused significant damage to nearby homes.

In a separate overnight strike on Tayr Debba in the same district, three people were killed and two others wounded, the agency added.

In the Jezzine district, the towns of Sarira and Qatrani were hit by more than 10 airstrikes at dawn, leaving nine people injured in Qatrani.

Israeli warplanes carried out additional strikes at dawn on uninhabited houses in Sultaneyah and Ain Baal in the Tyre district, while artillery shelling targeted the towns of Hanniyeh and Qleileh. Reconnaissance aircraft were reported flying over Tyre and surrounding areas.

On Monday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said 16 people were killed and dozens injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon.
