Washington, April 3 (SANA) The U.S. Army chief of staff has been fired as President Donald Trump warned that military operations against Iran could intensify.
The United States Department of Defense said Randy George was dismissed Thursday by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The Defense Department said George will retire effective immediately and thanked him for his decades of service.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the U.S. military had “not yet begun” to fully strike remaining targets in Iran. He said infrastructure such as bridges and power plants could be hit next.
In a televised address Thursday, Trump said the strikes could become “extremely severe” within two to three weeks.
George has served as Army chief since 2023 and previously held combat roles in Iraq and Afghanistan.
