Paris, April 1 (SANA) France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday that a foiled attack on the headquarters of Bank of America in Paris may be linked to a group affiliated with Iran.
According to AFP, prosecutors said they have requested the pre-trial detention of four suspects, including three minors with no prior criminal record and one adult previously convicted in 2025 on drug trafficking charges. All have been formally charged.
French police thwarted the attempted bombing last Saturday, involving an explosive device placed outside the US bank’s headquarters in the capital.
Prosecutors stated that the attack could be connected to a pro-Iran group known as the “Islamic Right Movement,” though they emphasized that this link has not been definitively established.
In a related development, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez reiterated in an interview with France Info radio that a possible Iranian connection is being considered. He said such acts can be carried out during periods of tension with Iran through intermediaries or recruited proxies.
Authorities had previously received a report on the 23rd of last month about a video circulated online by the group, which specifically referenced the French headquarters of Bank of America.
