Washington, March 26 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday in Washington that Iran is seeking an agreement with the United States while denying such efforts domestically.
Trump said Iranian negotiators fear internal repercussions if the talks are disclosed, saying “Iranian leaders are negotiating with Washington in secret while denying it to their people,” and adding they are keen to finalize a deal.
He also claimed that “no one in Iran wants to hold the position of Supreme Leader at the present time.” He reiterated that the United States has “destroyed everything in Iran,” including military and naval capabilities.
“We want to see the United States achieve success in its military operations in Iran,” Trump said, adding: “I have ended eight wars, and we are now winning the war against Iran.”
On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is prepared to escalate military action against Iran if it does not “acknowledge its military defeat.”
