Drone attack triggers fire at Fujairah petroleum facility

Fujairah, March 16 (SANA) A fire broke out at a petroleum facility in the Emirate of Fujairah on Monday following a drone strike, authorities in the United Arab Emirates said.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that a developing fire erupted in the Fujairah Oil Industries Zone as a result of the attack, adding that no injuries were reported.

Civil defense teams responded immediately and were working to bring the fire under control, authorities said.

The Port of Fujairah is one of the region’s key oil hubs and serves as a major center for storing and exporting crude outside the Arabian Gulf, giving it strategic importance in global energy trade.

The port was also targeted by a drone strike last Saturday that caused a fire, raising concerns about shipping activity at one of the region’s most important oil export centers.

The incidents come amid heightened regional tensions following a wave of military escalation since Feb. 28 linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
