Amman, Sep.30 (SANA) Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Wednesday stressed the importance of supporting efforts by Syria and Lebanon to preserve their security, stability and sovereignty.
The Jordan News Agency (Petra) said the remarks came during the King’s meeting with British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell and in a phone call he received from King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, during which they discussed regional developments.
King Abdullah stressed the need to intensify international efforts to achieve comprehensive regional de-escalation that ensures the security of Arab states and restores stability to the region, as well as to stop dangerous Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
On Sept. 17, King Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated their countries’ support for Syria’s unity, security and stability and for preserving its sovereignty.
Jordan’s Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed in a statement earlier this month the Kingdom’s steadfast position in support of Syria’s reconstruction on foundations that ensure its unity, sovereignty, security, stability and territorial integrity, while safeguarding the rights of all Syrians.
