New York, March 6 (SANA) The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on Friday called for an immediate de-escalation in the Middle East as the U.S.-Israel–Iran conflict enters its seventh day.
Speaking to AFP, Türk warned that the region is witnessing “more bombing, destruction, killings, and escalation” and urged the international community to take urgent action to contain the violence and create a path toward peace.
He stressed that world powers must exert clear pressure on the warring parties to step back from escalation and prevent further civilian suffering.
Separately, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) described the conflict as a major humanitarian emergency, highlighting the urgent need for aid and coordinated response efforts across the region.
The hostilities have expanded in recent days, with missile and drone attacks exchanged between the involved parties and tensions spreading to several neighboring countries.
