Doha, March 5 (SANA) Qatar on Thursday began evacuating residents living near the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Doha, as a precautionary measure amid rising regional tensions.
The Interior Ministry said alternative housing had been provided for affected residents and urged the public to rely on official channels for information.
The U.S. Embassy also advised people to avoid the area around the diplomatic compound for safety reasons.
The move comes as Iran continues missile and drone attacks on Qatar and other Arab countries following U.S. and Israeli strikes targeting Iran since last Saturday.
Qatar’s Defense Ministry said it recently intercepted three cruise missiles, 24 drones, 98 ballistic missiles and two Su-24 aircraft during the attacks.
