Ankara, Jan. 24 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday Syria is moving quickly toward recovery and stability after ending the era of the deposed regime, which committed crimes against the Syrian people. He added that Turkey has sought to safeguard the rights of Syrians throughout the past years.
Speaking at the inauguration of several projects, Erdogan said the new Syrian government has demonstrated its ability to lead the country toward security and stability. He noted that the Syrian army has largely defeated terrorist organizations, and Kurdish citizens have become integrated into the Syrian state after regaining their rights.
Erdogan also highlighted efforts to combat ISIS, describing them as stronger and more determined, and said neutralizing threats from the SDF separatist organization in northern Syria has bolstered security in the region. He stressed that a unified, stable, and strong Syria is “in the interest of the entire Arab world.”
The Turkish president reiterated Turkey’s support for Syria’s unity and stability, emphasizing that a secure Syria would have positive effects on the wider region.
Erdogan has welcomed a recent ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF on issues related to Hasakah province, saying that full integration of the SDF into Syrian state institutions would mark a new phase and benefit the Kurdish population.
