Tehran, Feb. 28 (SANA) Iran launched a wave of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel in response to the joint US‑Israeli strikes that hit several Iranian cities earlier on Saturday. Air‑raid sirens sounded across Israel as air‑defense systems intercepted incoming projectiles, with explosions reported over Haifa, occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank, and other areas.
Iranian media reported explosions in Ilam Province and renewed strikes on Tehran, prompting activation of air‑defense systems. A senior Iranian official warned that all US and Israeli assets in the region are now “legitimate targets,” saying the confrontation will have “wide and long‑term consequences.”
The escalation triggered regional reactions: Bahrain reported explosions and activated sirens; Qatar said its internal security remains stable; Kuwait suspended all flights to Iran; the UAE partially closed its airspace; and Iraq shut its airspace after clearing all flights.
The developments follow a large‑scale US‑Israeli attack earlier in the day targeting dozens of sites in Tehran and other Iranian cities.
