Pakistani army says 34 militants killed in security operations

Islamabad, Feb. 26 (SANA) Thirty-four militants were killed in security operations conducted across various parts of Pakistan, the army said.

The state-run Pakistan News Agency reported that the operations, carried out over the past two days, were based on intelligence tracking militant movements in districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces for what they described as successful operations, reaffirming the country’s determination to continue its campaign against militancy.

On Monday, the army said five militants, including a suicide bomber, were killed in a separate operation in the southwest.
