Kallas: Syria’s success in building institutions serves Europe’s interests

Brussels, Dec. 15 (SANA) EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas affirmed that Syria’s success in building inclusive institutions is in Europe’s interest.

Speaking to journalists on Monday ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Kallas explained that the meeting would discuss developments in the Middle East, particularly Syria and Lebanon.

“We have prepared a memorandum on how to support Syria and help it move in the right direction,” she added.

Earlier, Kallas emphasized, in a joint statement with European Commission Vice-President for Democracy, Dubravka Šuica, and EU Commissioner for Equality and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib, on the occasion of the Anniversary of Liberation and Victory (December 8), that respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity remains an inviolable necessity.
