UN warns Israel over blocking Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

The United Nations has renewed its warning against the Israeli occupation’s continued restrictions and denial of humanitarian aid convoys’ entry into the Gaza Strip, noting that this is hampering life-saving efforts and deepening the humanitarian catastrophe.

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) quoted UN Secretary-General’s spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, as saying during a press conference in New York: “The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that Israel continues to prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid. Last Sunday, it rejected eight out of 15 aid missions requiring coordination, and prevented the implementation of the other seven missions.”

Dujarric noted that the ongoing Israeli airstrikes and bombardment of the Gaza Strip, including targeting health facilities, have caused additional casualties and severely damaged or completely destroyed essential infrastructure.

Dujarric noted that the number of people forcibly displaced in Gaza due to Israeli bombardment has exceeded 800,000 since the ceasefire collapsed in mid-March.

Since August 11, the Israeli occupation has escalated its bombardment of the Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City. This is part of its plan to gradually reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City, which was announced on the eighth of the same month.

Since the beginning of the war of extermination, 62,744 Palestinians have been killed and 158,259 injured.
