Turkey condemns Israel’s decision to expand Gaza military operation

Ankara, SANA-Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Friday in the strongest terms Israel’s decision to expand its military operations in Gaza, describing it as a new phase in Tel Aviv’s “expansionist and genocidal policy” in the region.

Anadolu News Agency quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: “Israeli occupation must immediately stop its war plans, accept a ceasefire in Gaza, and begin negotiations towards a two-state solution”.

The statement called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to prevent the implementation of this resolution, which aims to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land by rendering Gaza uninhabitable. It called on the UN Security Council to adopt binding resolutions to prevent Israeli actions that violate international law and human values, and stressed that establishing lasting peace in the region will only be possible through the rule of international law, prioritizing diplomacy, and protecting basic human rights.

‘’Every step taken by the Israeli government to continue the genocide against the Palestinians and expand the occupation constitutes a severe blow to international peace and security, noting that Israel must immediately stop its war plans”the statement stressed.

As usual, the Israeli occupation government ignored international calls and global appeals to stop its aggression against the Gaza Strip and its policies of genocide and starvation war against its people, and its mini-security council “the cabinet” decided at dawn today to impose military occupation on the entire Gaza City.
