Linear accelerator services resume at Lattakia University Hospital after two-year halt

Lattakia, SANA- The administration of Lattakia University Hospital has announced the resumption of services for the linear accelerator used in the treatment of malignant tumors, following completion of maintenance work coordinated with engineers from Al-Amal Association. The advanced technology provided by the device enhances the management of radiotherapy treatments.

Dr. Firas Hussein, the hospital’s medical director, explained that the downtime of the linear accelerator had significantly disrupted medical care for a large number of patients. He emphasized that its reactivation marks an important step toward improving healthcare services, with an estimated 50 to 100 patients benefiting from the device daily.

Several patients and their families expressed their relief at this development. Over the past two years, they had been forced to travel to other cities or seek costly alternatives. They praised the efforts of the hospital administration and Al-Amal Association in restoring the device’s functionality, alleviating their suffering, and improving their chances of receiving proper treatment.
