Damascus, April 2 (SANA) The Syrian Medical Syndicate launched its first post-liberation scientific conference on Thursday, under the title “Developments in Human Medical Specialties.” The three-day event, held at the Seven Gates Hotel in Damascus, aims to discuss cutting-edge medical breakthroughs, enhance scientific research, and foster professional cooperation to revitalize Syria’s healthcare sector.
The conference features an elite group of local and international experts, covering a vast range of medical fields. Key sessions are dedicated to:
Surgical Advancements: Orthopedic, plastic, neurological, cardiac, vascular, and organ transplant surgeries.
Specialized Care: Pediatrics, obstetrics, infertility, ophthalmology, and family medicine.
Internal Medicine: Endocrinology, diabetes, oncology, hematology, and infectious diseases.
Modern Frontiers: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), quality assurance, and advanced medical technologies.
Human Rights and Professional Ethics
In a significant addition to the scientific agenda, the conference will hold a specialized dialogue session on the role of physicians in documenting violations against detainees. This reflects the new administration’s commitment to transparency, transitional justice, and the ethical responsibility of the medical community in upholding human dignity.
Leadership Visions for a Modern Health System
Minister of Health Dr. Musab al-Ali praised the heroism of Syrian doctors who served on the front lines during the years of the revolution. He described the conference as a launchpad for a modern health system built on science and technology.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan al-Halabi emphasized that Syria must be an active participant in global medical progress, not a bystander. He stated that building a medical environment that respects both physician rights and patient dignity is a “top national priority.”
Reclaiming National Expertise
The President of the Syrian Medical Association, Malek al-Atwi, highlighted that this summit crowns a long period of resilience. He stressed the importance of supporting young doctors, creating a dignified work environment, and reversing the “brain drain” by encouraging the return of Syrian expertise from abroad.
Anas Zahbian, Director of “Masarat,” the organizing firm, revealed that the conference includes over 30 Syrian expatriate doctors participating from Germany, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, both in person and via video link.
Medical Technology Exhibition
Accompanying the sessions is a specialized exhibition featuring over 25 medical and pharmaceutical companies. The exhibition showcases the latest diagnostic equipment, locally manufactured pharmaceuticals, and innovative AI services tailored for clinical practice, signaling a robust return of the medical industry to the Syrian market.
