Damascus, Sept. 9 (SANA) The Syrian Arab Republic welcomed a historic decision by the Council of the League of Arab States calling for the full lifting of all political, economic and social sanctions imposed on the Syrian state and its institutions, while maintaining sanctions on officials of the deposed regime.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the decision represents an important step toward correcting the course, strengthening joint Arab action and consolidating mutual commitment to supporting Syria’s economic recovery, reconstruction and stability.

The Ministry expressed its deep appreciation for the fraternal efforts and constructive response that led to the adoption of the decision.

It also reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to enhancing Arab cooperation and working effectively with the League of Arab States in the service of the common interests of the region and its peoples.
