Singapore, July 31 (SANA) Twenty-five vessels carrying commodities passed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Thursday, while traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained sharply reduced, according to data from shipping analytics firm Kpler.
Reuters, citing Kpler data, reported that 18 vessels entered Bab al-Mandeb and seven exited the strategic waterway, including several oil tankers.
In contrast, only two empty tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz, reflecting continued low levels of maritime activity through the key energy route.
Kpler said the figures may not capture the full scale of shipping activity, as some vessels could be operating with their automatic identification system (AIS) transponders switched off, making them difficult to track.
The latest data comes amid heightened security concerns affecting maritime traffic in the region, with continued Iranian attacks and Houthi militia strikes on shipping in the Red Sea raising concerns over the safety of major trade routes and global energy supply chains.
