Beijing, June 27 (SANA)    Syria and China launched the “Syria International Smart Industrial Cities” platform on Saturday to strengthen industrial cooperation, attract investment, and support Syria’s reconstruction efforts.

The launch ceremony, organized by the Syrian-Chinese Business Council in cooperation with Suzhou Land Group and the GrowFast investment and entrepreneurship platform, was attended by Syria’s Chargé d’Affaires in China, Zakaria Lababidi.

The initiative aims to transfer Chinese industrial expertise to Syria through twinning programs between industrial cities, the development of smart industrial zones, technology and knowledge transfer, workforce training, and investment promotion.

Lababidi said Syria welcomes Chinese companies and institutions seeking to contribute to the country’s development and reconstruction. He added that growing bilateral ties provide a strong foundation for expanding economic and industrial cooperation in ways that serve the interests of both countries.

He also praised the Syrian-Chinese Business Council and its partners for promoting cooperation between public and private sector institutions and helping transform investment opportunities into practical projects.

Syrian-Chinese Business Council Chairman Fadi al-Ahmed al-Muheimid described the initiative as a strategic step toward shifting bilateral economic relations from trade to long-term industrial partnership through the transfer of Chinese industrial expertise.

Zhang Wei, mayor of Changshu and deputy secretary of the city’s Communist Party Committee, welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the city’s interest in expanding industrial and investment cooperation with Syria.

During the ceremony, officials also announced the first two projects under the initiative: Smart Furniture Cities in Damascus and Aleppo. The event was attended by government officials, representatives of economic institutions, and business leaders from both countries.
