Damascus, Sept. 10 (SANA) Gold prices remained unchanged in the Syrian market on Thursday from the previous day, according to the General Authority for Precious Metals Management.

The authority’s latest bulletin put the selling price of 21-karat gold at SYP 16,100 per gram, while the buying price stood at SYP 15,800.

The selling price of 18-karat gold was SYP 13,800 per gram, while the buying price stood at SYP 13,500.

The authority put the price of an ounce of gold on the global market at $4,408.

In international markets, US gold futures edged lower on Thursday, with December contracts opening at $4,448 per ounce, down 0.3% from Wednesday’s close, and trading at $4,439.70 as of 6:35 a.m. ET, according to Yahoo Finance.

Gold prices have traded within a relatively narrow range around $4,400 this week as investors awaited US inflation data for further indications on the outlook for interest rates.

Markets were watching the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data due Thursday and Friday, respectively, ahead of the Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting starting Tuesday.

No SYP-to-USD conversions are included because no exchange rate was supplied.
