Damascus, July 20 (SANA)   Syria’s General Organization for Fairs and International Markets announced on Monday that the 63rd Damascus International Fair will be held from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4, 2026, under the patronage of President Ahmad al-Sharaa and organized by the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Damascus International Fair Administration.

The announcement was made during a press conference in Damascus attended by government officials and representatives of the business and commercial sectors.

Economy and Industry Minister Nidal al-Shaar said Syria was entering a new economic phase marked by significant challenges and opportunities, stressing that economic recovery requires a genuine partnership between the state and the private sector.

He said the first three days of the fair would be reserved for business leaders, investors and official delegations to strengthen the event’s economic focus and promote investment partnerships.

Al-Shaar also announced the launch of the Damascus World Economic Forum, which will be held alongside the fair as a platform for dialogue between the government, private sector, investors and international partners.

The forum aims to strengthen confidence in Syria’s economy, showcase investment opportunities and support industry, trade and exports, he said.

“Our message to business leaders and investors is clear: Syria is a land of opportunity, and its doors are open to every serious partner willing to help build a productive and competitive economy that delivers mutual benefit,” al-Shaar said.

Mohammad Hamza, director-general of the General Organization for Fairs and International Markets, said the fair represents another step toward restoring Syria’s economic standing and presenting the country to the world with “a new vision, an open economy and genuine investment opportunities.”

He said the success of the 62nd edition, which brought together participating countries, companies and investors, had laid the foundation for a more mature, better organized and more impactful event this year.

Hamza said the organization had completed extensive upgrades to the fairgrounds, including infrastructure, facilities and services, and that the venue was fully prepared to host major exhibitions and events.

He added that dedicating the first three days to business leaders, investors and official delegations would help facilitate meetings, forge partnerships, sign agreements and generate tangible economic outcomes.

The 63rd edition will also feature a range of special events and new initiatives designed to reinforce the fair’s role as a platform for investment and international economic cooperation, he said.

On the sidelines of the launch event, the General Organization for Fairs and International Markets signed several memorandums of understanding with partners and sponsors supporting the 63rd edition of the Damascus International Fair.
