Damascus, July 1 (SANA) Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar said on Wednesday that Syria is entering a new phase of economic development after years of isolation, highlighting significant investment opportunities across the country.
Speaking at the opening of the Syrian-British Business Council (SBBC) conference in Damascus, al-Shaar said Syria had experienced years of isolation from the international community but now has a genuine opportunity to embark on a new stage of growth and development.
He said business councils play an important role in promoting the image of the new Syria and raising awareness of investment opportunities available to domestic and international investors.
Al-Shaar said the government is committed to expanding international cooperation and benefiting from external support to advance the country’s economic development.
He called on international partners and the business community to contribute to rebuilding Syria’s economy and supporting long-term growth and prosperity.
The conference is being held at the Golden Mezzeh Hotel and has brought together representatives of Syrian ministries and business leaders from Syria and the United Kingdom to discuss investment opportunities and economic development.
The agenda includes financial development, the energy sector, urban development, logistics and education as part of efforts to support economic diversification.
