Hasakah, April 19 (SANA) A delegation from the Ministry of Justice, headed by Public Prosecutor Judge Hassan al-Turba, concluded the handover of the main court in Hasakah city and the central prison in Ghuwayran neighborhood, reviewing inmates’ conditions in preparation for establishing a legal office under the public prosecution to follow up their cases.
Al-Turba said that, in coordination with the General Directorate of Prisons at the Ministry of Interior, the central prison was officially handed over, and a field tour was conducted inside several wards, including meetings with inmates to listen to their demands and remarks.
He added that a legal office affiliated with the public prosecution at the Ministry of Justice will be established inside the prison, similar to those created in other provinces, tasked with following up inmates’ cases and addressing their legal issues.
Al-Turba noted that the visit came under directives of the Minister of Justice and included a meeting with Hasakah Governor Nour al‑Din Ahmad, followed by a visit to the main court in Hasakah during the handover process in preparation for reactivation, as well as a meeting with judges and staff.
He confirmed that a tour was conducted in the court building, noting that work is underway to restore operations in the near future, allowing judges to receive citizens and review cases, adding that the building requires maintenance and rehabilitation before full resumption.
The visit was accompanied by the head of prison administration in Syria, as efforts continue to take over prisons in Hasakah province and link them with courts under the Ministry of Justice, reinforcing institutional integration and the rule of law.
After the visit to Hasakah, the delegation from the Ministry of Justice, headed by the Public Prosecutor, and accompanied by the Presidential Team tasked with following up on the implementation of the January 29 agreement with the SDF, and the Internal Security Command in Hasakah, visited Alaya prison in the city of Qamishli, as part of the procedures for taking over the administration of prisons and linking them to the Ministry of Justice.
