Damascus, May 11 (SANA) UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said on Monday that the next phase of relations between Syria and the United Arab Emirates required stronger economic cooperation and deeper partnership based on mutual interests and development.
Speaking during the opening of the first Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum in Damascus, Al Zeyoudi said the Syrian capital held a special place for Emiratis because of the longstanding historical ties between the two countries.
“The coming phase requires stronger cooperation and deeper ties based on genuine partnership, integration and comprehensive development,” Al Zeyoudi said.
He added that the two countries were working to develop joint projects capable of creating added economic value for both economies.
Al Zeyoudi said the organization of the forum, along with broad participation from public- and private-sector representatives, reflected a shared belief that economic integration and direct dialogue were the best path toward growth and competitiveness.
The first Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum opened on Monday at the Ebla Cham Hotel in the Damascus countryside, bringing together government officials, investors and business leaders from Syria and the UAE to discuss expanding economic cooperation and investment opportunities.
The forum, organized by the Syrian Investment Authority, includes discussion sessions focused on trade, financial services, tourism, agriculture, food security, energy, logistics, healthcare, technology and digital transformation.
