Communications Ministry: No recent hacks of Syrian websites

Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology denied the existence of recent breaches of Syrian websites, and confirmed that all allegations regarding this are false.

The Ministry clarified, in a statement, that it is following up on what is being circulated through some media outlets and social media platforms regarding allegations of recent cyber hacks targeting Syrian government websites, stressing that there are no new hacks, and that all claims of recent hacks of Syrian websites are baseless, and what is currently being circulated are old leaks that were previously circulated and do not represent any new threat to cybersecurity.

It explained that many of the websites referenced in these allegations have been offline for some time, and some are completely out of service. Technically, they cannot be affected or hacked at this time, suggesting that what is being republished is old content that does not reflect the current technical reality.

The Ministry indicated that it had monitored several phishing attempts targeting individuals through fake messages and links aimed at collecting user data fraudulently, stressing that these attempts did not affect the digital infrastructure.
