Damascus, Aug. 7 (SANA) The “Meshhadani Industrial Trilogy,” comprising three specialized exhibitions, is bringing together more than 300 brands from 13 countries at the Damascus Fairgrounds, offering a platform to support Syria’s industrial recovery, connect producers with suppliers and investors, and explore opportunities for trade and investment.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and organized by Meshhadani International Group, the event includes the seventh edition of the “Syria Plast” exhibition for plastic industries, the sixth edition of “ChemExpo” for chemical industries, and the third edition of “RawMex” for raw materials and production supplies.
The exhibitions cover more than 10,000 square meters and bring together suppliers, investors, experts, industrialists and policymakers.
Platform for industrial recovery
Director-General of the General Establishment for Exhibitions and International Markets Mohammad Hamza told SANA that the exhibitions represent an important platform for supporting the national economy and strengthening the industrial sector, particularly manufacturing and production industries.
He said specialized exhibitions help support production lines, improve communication between producers and suppliers, and open new opportunities for Syrian industries to reach regional and international markets.
Director-General of Meshhadani International Group Khalaf Meshhadani said the three exhibitions form an integrated platform for producers, suppliers, investors and experts. Their combined focus, he added, supports production lines, promotes cooperation among industrial sectors, opens avenues for investment and knowledge exchange, and expands the presence of Syrian products in local and foreign markets.
Foreign companies explore Syrian market
Representatives of participating foreign companies said the exhibitions offer an opportunity to establish direct contact with Syrian industrialists and investors and explore the potential of the Syrian market, particularly in plastics, chemicals, raw materials and production supplies.
Masoud Yalçın, an official with a Chinese company specializing in plastic and aluminum injection-molding machinery, said this was the company’s first participation in the event.
He said the company aims to assess investment opportunities in Syria and present advanced machinery that meets the needs of the country’s industrial sector, while expressing interest in taking part in future editions.
Hassan Hussein, sales manager at a Turkish company producing plastic packaging, said the company’s participation reflects its interest in supporting Syria’s economic and industrial recovery.
He said the company supplies packaging for water, beverages, juices and medical products, in addition to the raw materials used to manufacture them, and is seeking to expand its presence in the Syrian market and strengthen cooperation with local industrialists.
Mustafa Alas, director of a Turkish company specializing in natural personal-care products, said the company is seeking to enter the Syrian market and introduce products for skin and hair care and personal hygiene.
He described the event as an important platform for direct contact with customers and visitors.
Ahmed Bastati, a representative of a Malaysian company producing palm-oil-based chemicals, said the Syrian market is experiencing rapid growth and offers promising opportunities for industrial companies despite expected competition.
He said participation allows the company to understand the needs of Syrian industrialists and present chemical products used in various industries.
ChemExpo links suppliers and manufacturers
Participants in the sixth edition of “ChemExpo” said the exhibition enables companies to display their products, learn about the needs of the Syrian market and explore partnerships in the chemical sector.
The exhibition features products and technologies used in raw materials, laboratory equipment, perfumes, cosmetics and detergents.
Mohammad Mirsh, a representative of Turkish laboratory and chemical-products company Titan, said the company has a branch in Aleppo and supplies products to industrial facilities, public institutions and universities for testing, analysis and quality control. He said the company is participating for the second time with equipment including pH and electrical-conductivity meters, magnetic stirrers and other laboratory devices.
Alaa al Khader, executive director of local natural-products brand AlADAY, said participation provides an opportunity to strengthen the brand’s presence and introduce its products to Syrian consumers. She stressed the importance of direct contact with customers to identify their needs and feedback and use that information to improve products and expand marketing and cooperation opportunities.
Abdullah Ramo, procurement officer at local perfume company Masar, said the company is seeking to meet manufacturers and suppliers from Syria and abroad and build new partnerships. He said the participation of companies from 13 countries creates opportunities to exchange expertise and expand commercial relations.
Ramo said Masar supplies raw materials for chemical industries, particularly perfumes, cosmetics and detergents, and is displaying perfumes and raw materials imported from Spanish and Indian sources to meet the needs of manufacturers in the Syrian market.
Syria–Abkhazia cooperation opportunities
Abkhazian Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Ali said specialized industrial and economic exhibitions in Syria help promote national products and open new channels for trade and investment cooperation with other countries.
During a tour of the exhibitions, Ali said his meetings with Syrian factory and company owners had revealed broad opportunities for cooperation. He said the embassy is keen to maintain contact with participating companies and introduce their products to businesspeople in Abkhazia.
Potential areas of cooperation include textiles, ceramics, traditional crafts and Damascus-made products, which Ali said attract interest in the Abkhazian market. Syria, meanwhile, could benefit from Abkhazian timber and certain types of coal used to operate factories, in addition to developing cooperation in tourism.
Ali said the growing pace of international and specialized exhibitions in Syria reflects the country’s economic openness. He added that obstacles to trade are gradually declining as procedures related to trade, financial transfers and transport improve.
He stressed that expanding trade and economic cooperation between Syria and Abkhazia remains a priority and expressed hope that the exhibitions would help broaden cooperation and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
The “Meshhadani Industrial Trilogy” began on Aug. 5 and continues at the Damascus Fairgrounds through Saturday, Aug. 8, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The exhibitions are expected to strengthen ties between Syrian and foreign companies, support the supply of raw materials and production equipment, and contribute to the recovery and development of Syria’s industrial sector.
