Daraa, March 28 (SANA) The Directorate of Education in Daraa province, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture, organized a theatrical performance titled “Daraa: Cradle of the Revolution” to mark the anniversary of the Syrian revolution’s outbreak on March 18.
The play, performed by school students, artistically recreated key milestones of the Syrian revolution, from its early beginnings to its pivotal stages.
Director of Education in Daraa, Mohammad al-Kafri, stated during the event that the performance stood out in both concept and execution, noting that it transported the audience back to the earliest moments of the revolution.
Student Mohammad Mahmoud al-Khatib said: “We participated today in the ‘Daraa: Cradle of the Revolution’ event, beginning with a scene of children writing on walls, followed by escalating events portraying what the children later endured. We hope this work is well received by the audience.”
For his part, Arabic language teacher, playwright, and director Abdullah Hassan al-Hassan explained that the play covered various phases of the Syrian revolution, starting from the wall writings through multiple stages, culminating in the liberation of detainees and the fall of the deposed regime.
Al-Hassan added that the performance featured distinguished students from the mental math team, who portrayed their roles creatively under the supervision and training of Abdul Raouf Turkmani.
This performance is part of broader cultural and educational activities aimed at connecting students with their history and strengthening national awareness through art. Theater serves as an effective medium for expressing societal issues, promoting human values, and fostering students’ creative skills.
