Manama, SANA – Syrian athlete Inas al-Amoud won the gold medal in the hammer throw competition at the 1st West Asian Junior Athletics Championships, which is being held in Bahrain.
Al-Amoud ranked first in the event on Friday with a record of 39.55 meters, while fellow Syrian athlete Rima Jaafar came in third place in the triple jump competition, earning the bronze medal.
The Syrian team has one a total of five medals in the Championships so far, with Fatima Rayya winning silver in the meters steeplechase event, while Rima Jaafar won silver in the long jump event and Ala’a Laila won bronze in the 100 meters hurdles event.
