Moscow calls for reaching agreement on classifying terrorist organizations in Syria

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Ministry called for reaching an agreement to specify a unified list on the terrorist organizations in Syria during Vienna upcoming meeting, saying that the Russian side considers this issue as premises for the political process and the solution to the crisis in Syria.

“Moscow has exerted joint efforts along with the UN Envoy to Syria Di Mistura to put a joint, collective basis to launch a political dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition,” Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson of the Russian foreign Ministry said at a press conference Thursday.

She added that Russia has held several meetings with delegations of Syrian opposition in the framework of those efforts.

Zakharova reiterated that the participants in Vienna first meeting have agreed that the Syrian people are the only ones who determine their destiny, pointing out that Vienna statement won’t allow anyone to impose decisions on the Syrians.

She added that forming an opposition delegation that will sit to the dialogue table with the Syrian government and classifying the terrorist organizations in Syria are basic issues on the agenda of Vienna upcoming meeting due next Saturday.

In this regard, Zakharova condemned the terrorist attacks on Lattakia that claimed the lives of 23 civilians and injured 50 others.
