Shaaban: China supports Russian positions towards Syria

Beijing, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban affirmed on Wednesday that China supports Damascus and Moscow positions in support of the Syrian people’s right to decide their own future without external interference.

In a statement to al-Mayadeen TV channel, Shaaban said that there are Chinese fears of the return of Uighurs from Syria to wage attacks in China.

Shaaban affirmed China’s support for the Russian participation in the war against terrorism and the Syrian efforts in this regard, adding that China had called on Syria’s neighboring countries to realize that danger of terrorism threatens everyone and efforts must be unified to eliminate it.

On Tuesday, Shaaban met the Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zhang Ming and discussed with him the latest developments regarding the crisis in Syria and the counter-terrorism efforts.

Shaaban holds dialogue on the latest events in Syria

Dr. Shaaban held on Tuesday a dialogue symposium at the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s National Center for Studies in Beijing.

She held discussions with Chinese intellectuals and politicians on the latest developments of the crisis in Syria, answering questions about the Russian support to Syria in its war against terrorism.

The majority of participants in the symposium showed support to the Syrian efforts, hoping Syria would achieve security and stability and defeat terrorism completely.

Dr. Shaaban today headed for Shanghai where she held a meeting with teachers and academic men at the University of Foreign Studies.

During the meeting, Dr. Shaaban briefed the participants on the latest events in the country, and then answered questions raised by the teachers on the dimensions of the crisis in Syria.
