Bucharest, SANA – The Syrian Embassy in Romania participated along with 50 other embassies in a cultural festival titled “Spread Your Culture” which aims to enhance cooperation between world cultures and civilizations.
The festival is organized by the Romanian Foreign Affairs and Culture ministries.
The Syrian Embassy participated in two pavilions by presenting cultural and touristic brochures and books about Syria, wooden sculptures, mosaic, traditional handicrafts, Damascene fabrics, popular fashion and brassware, ceramics, glassware, paintings, Arabic manuscripts and icons.
For his part, Romeo Dumitrescu, the general supervisor of the festival, hailed the remarkable participation of Syria in terms of organization and diversity of works and materials despite what is happening in Syria.
“We must protect Syria and its civilization and heritage which is exposed to destruction and should do anything we can to stop these atrocities and to preserve this human heritage.” Dumitrescu added.
The Romanian Culture Minister Bogdan Stanoevici expressed his deep sorrow over the destruction of Palmyra heritage by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Syrian Embassy will screen the Syrian movie “Mariam” for the director Bassel al-Khatib at Cinema Studio-Bucharest.
