Damascus, SANA – Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi affirmed the necessity of uniting efforts in combating terrorism which is striking the region in service of the Zionist entity.
During his meeting with an Egyptian media delegation which currently visiting Syria, al-Zoubi said that combating terrorism requires cooperation between countries, adding that what is happening in some Arab countries is part of a division project which serves the interests of Israeli enemy.
The minister noted the role of Syrian mass media which revealed truths about the acts of terrorist organizations, wondering as to the reasons of preventing the Syrian media from broadcasting through Nilesat network of channels.
In response to queries of the delegation members about the political initiatives to resolve the crisis in Syria, the minister said that Syrian government since the beginning of the crisis, has expressed readiness for political dialogue.
But, he added, the problem lies in that the opposition does not have an independent decision taking orders from foreign countries, pointing out that any political course that harms national sovereignty or the Syrian state is rejected.
Asked about the relations between Syria and Egypt, the minister said that what historically binds Syria and Egypt cannot be erased.
For their part, members of delegation expressed their solidarity with the Syrian media, adding that they will convey the true image of the events in it to the Egyptian people.
The delegation includes media figures from Al-Akhbar, Al-Masri al-Youm and Al-Ahram newspapers and al-Nahar and al-Ahram TV channels.
