Cabinet discusses services issues including ramifications of current heat wave

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet’s weekly session on Tuesday tackled a number of services issues, including the ramifications of the current heat wave and proposed solutions for improving the sectors of electricity, petroleum, and drinking water.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi called on the Petroleum Ministry to monitor the performance of gas stations and address unjustified shortages.

The Premier asserted that the government is committed to the principal of partnership with all elements of the Syrian society in terms of planning for the future, and that the government is working via its project to rationalize subsidies towards reducing deficits in the state’s general budget.

The Ministers of Petroleum, Electricity, and Water Resources reviewed the status of the three sectors, the obstacles affecting them, and the steps being taken to overcome them.

The Cabinet also finalized procedures for issuing the law on partnership between the public and private sector which will play a role in launching the reconstruction process, reduce unemployment, reduce debts, develop rural areas, and launch assorted projects.
